We hope that it is evident through our school values, our website, coming into school and through talking to staff and pupils, that effective citizenship is very high on our agenda. Even though there is no statutory requirement to teach it at Primary we still do.
We use a variety of different resources and focuses to ensure that we do this well:

PSHE stands for Personal, Social, Health Education
SEAL - Social and Emotional Aspects of Learning
SMSC - Social, Moral, Spiritual and Cultural

Mrs. Jones delivers Yoga to all of our KS2 once a week.
We teach traditional Yoga thinking and poses but link then to our school values.

We have started to establish a RotaKids club in association with Oswestry Rotary Club. RotaKids aims to engage children and young adults in lively and exciting activities and fundraisers to have a positive impact on their school, their community and globally. The club aims to enable children to have the confidence to be active citizens within their communities, both now, as young people and later in life as adults.

Justin and Sherie Soper from Oswestry Rotary Club came to Gobowen in the Spring term to deliver an assembly about what the Rotary Club is and the work that they do. From this, children have been elected by their classes to be RotaKids members. The club will be run in school by Mrs Owen but the aim is to build the children's confidence to run the club as independently as possible, drawing on peers for ideas and support.

In June, members of the Oswestry Rotary Club will return to school to hold an official chartering assembly for the Gobowen School members.

Gobowen School RotaKids club have started by organising a fundraiser to contribute to the prevention of polio worldwide by holding a 'dress purple for polio day' on July 6th.
